I love love. As cliche as that may be, it’s true. Seeing all my couples so in love and happy just brings a smile to my face, a tear to my eye (dangerous in my line of work, lol) and makes me happy, pure and simple. And even though I am lucky enough to experience this almost every weekend, once in a while, there comes a couple that just makes that smile a little wider, those tears flow a little more, and my heart skip faster. Meika and Shawn are that couple. Maybe it’s because I know Meika, having taught with her. Maybe it’s because the two of them have been through adversity that would have broken a weaker couple. Having gone through my own hard times early on in my marriage, I am fiercely protective of and a silent cheerleader for those who make it through stronger and more in love than before. Maybe it was just seeing these two so happy, so relaxed, and so in sync with each other, that it made this a wedding like no other for me. Don’t get me wrong, I adore all my couples. I see the love everywhere. But these two truly reminded me of me & my husband. And I would say that’s a good thing. We are 12 years into a wonderful marriage. Hard times, stress, kids (lol) and outside pressures only make us better. And I see that in Meika & Shawn. At one point during their wedding (which happened to be at my husband’s venue), I felt his arm slip around my waist and he whispered in my ear, “he looks at her the way I still look at you”. When a wedding makes us old married farts smile, cry, and reminisce, you know it’s a keeper.
Meika & Shawn… Love you guys.
