I don’t mind flying. Never have. But flying 26 weeks pregnant to and from California in a 40 hour time period just plain stinks. But I would do it all over again to have the opportunity to attend another workshop with the fabulous Jasmine Star. Her workshops sell out in a matter of minutes. When I got the email for her May 2011 workshop, I didn’t hesitate, I didn’t even think. I just turned to my husband with a look of “oh please, oh please” on my face and my hands waving in the air like a lunatic until he read the email and said “well, what are you waiting for?”. I scrambled and within minutes got the email response: “You’re In!” I may have screeched, not sure. Here’s the gist of why I was (and still am) so excited to be given this opportunity – Jasmine is an industry leader and to be able to pick her brain and watch her work is a chance to directly improve my own craft and grow my business into what I know it can be. The workshop did not disappoint. So thank you Jasmine (and JD) for being so open, down to earth, and excited. Your attitude is infectious. My back may still ache (why did my masseuse have to cancel on me today?), but the knowledge I have gained, the friendships I have made with fellow photographers, and the experience of a lifetime make it all worth it. I flew home to work the next morning and a still sick kiddo up at 4am needing his Mama, but I’m glad I went.

Thank you so much to an amazing photog couple, Joe and Stacy Kokes! You guys totally rocked the pictures and were such a joy to get to know! Best of luck to you both.
We had some harsh lighting with rapid changes (darn those pesky clouds and glaring sun), but Jasmine was great at keeping us informed of her changes so that we could master her amazing natural light techniques!
